Creative Activities for the Summer

Creative ways to entertain yourself during the day (as always, these ocurred while I was either showering or putting the baby down for a nap):
  • One day they took the handsoap from the bathroom (which was, of course, secured about 6 feet about the ground in attempt to prevent them from getting it), they dumped the entire bottle out on the tile floor, they poured a bucket of water on top of the soap, made the floor good and suddsy, stripped down naked, and created their own slip n' slide on the tile floor throughout the house.
  • Another day, I caught JR sitting on top of the counter, holding the spray hose, flooding the dining room (for the 10,000th time).  The only difference was that this time his aim was at a particular target: poor Alex was standing in the middle of this boy-created lake, dripping from head to toe, staring wide-eyed at JR.
  • Later on in the month, JR figured out how to pierce the fortress of our child proofed house; he unlocked the "childproof" locks to our bedroom; then unlocked the "childproof" locks to our bathroom; then unlocked the "childproof" locks on our linen closet; found two bottles of foot powder and turned our closet into a winter wonderland--powdering our clothes, our shoes, the floor, and every inch of free space available.
  • On a more pleasant note, Alex learned how to dance (mostly just bending his knees and bouncing up and down); has an amazing vocabulary (mommy, daddy, Wally, "don't whine," "thank you," blackberry, "see you later," bottle, blankey, ball, and endless others); and is altogether good natured and adorable.
